Why GENSŌ is an extrait.

GENSŌ is an extrait de parfum, the most concentrated format a fragrance comes in, which is why one spray runs about eight hours on skin and longer on fabric. An eau de toilette or an eau de parfum carries far less of the actual composition; an extrait carries the most. We chose it because a numbered edition of two hundred should not be a thing you top up through the day. It should be a thing you put on once, and carry.

Concentration is not loudness. A higher proportion of the composition means the scent has more of itself to give over time, not that it shouts. One spray on the pulse points is the whole instruction. Your skin does the rest, since the scent is built to bloom off body heat, and rubbing it or reapplying it only rushes something that was made to take its time.

It is also why GENSŌ develops the way it does. The cold, mineral opening, the leather that rises underneath, the amber and earth it settles into: an extrait has the room to move through all of that slowly, on you, rather than flashing and vanishing. Less, but truer. Made once, in a closed edition, in the most concentrated form we could make it.
